 | Jim Hargrave was born in Davidson County and raised in Bishop, West Virginia. He joined the Navy after high school graduation, serving as a hospital corpsman with an 11-month tour in Vietnam. A graduate of Cincinnati College of Mortuary Sciences, he attended Boston State College for four years and studied biology at Harvard Medical School. He served an apprenticeship at Nobel and Kelsey Funeral Home of Salisbury under Leonard Howell before receiving his North Carolina license. He also worked at Gilmore Funeral Home of Lexington, NC. Jim retired from NC Baptist Hospital after serving 26 years: 11 as Chief Death Investigator and Supervisor of Autopsy Service in Winston-Salem, NC. He was also active in organ procurement and a coordinator & organ tissue technician. Jim is a respected member of the Cornerstone Church, of Salisbury and Loretta is a dedicated member of St. Luke Baptist church. |
